Mindfulness is a practice that can help you manage your mental health and wellbeing. There's also evidence that supports it can reduce the symptoms and impact of stress. We offer a range of resources to help introduce you to the practical techniques of mindfulness.

Self-study mindfulness courses

Register for the Breathworks Community of Practice platform.

The Charity for Civil Servants offers free access to self-study courses and introductions to mindfulness provided by Breathworks:

  • The Breathworks Community of Practice platform – explore the community space, join in fortnightly live online practice sessions, and chat to other community members.
  • A Taste of Mindfulness – this short, self-led introductory course, explores what mindfulness is and offers short taster practices to try. It’s a great place to start your journey with mindfulness.
  • One Month of Mindfulness – this course explores mindfulness in a little more depth and offers more variety of practices to support you in developing equilibrium and inner strength, no matter what is going on in your life or at work! The course is divided into four ‘weeks’ so you could take one week at a time.
  • Mindfulness for Managing Long-Covid – a 7 stage self-paced course to support people through their recovery, developed with University College London. This course forms part of the 'Living with Covid recovery programme' currently used within the NHS.
  • Methods for Living Well with Pain and Illness – this 10-day course guided by Vidyamala Burch, Breathworks co-founder, provides multiple tools to help you free your mind, increase wellbeing and reduce suffering. You'll learn various mindfulness methods and approaches, through daily talks and guided meditations taking about 15 minutes per day.

Getting started on the Breathworks Community of Practice platform

Register for the Breathworks Community of Practice platform.

  • Click on the Access button.
  • Create an account: add your first name and last name and click next in the top right hand corner. Then add your email address and password and click create account in the top right hand corner.

You'll have access to the fortnightly live practice sessions, monthly meet ups and more including the following courses:

  • A Taste of Mindfulness
  • One Month of Mindfulness
  • Mindfulness for Managing Long-Covid
  • Methods for Living Well with Pain and Illness
