This session is a celebration of all that has been achieved so far in raising awareness and providing support for colleagues impacted by menopausal symptoms whilst working in the Civil Service. There is also an opportunity to look forward to the next stage of this work and hear about exciting new developments including from Peppy on the launch of their app for colleagues.
The panel share their personal perspectives of being impacted by menopausal symptoms directly and indirectly, and how they have worked to bring about change in their working environment. They discuss the challenges still ahead and how we can all get involved to make a difference.
The mission of the Employer’s Initiative on Domestic Abuse (EIDA) is to bring together the experience, expertise and best practice of employers and partners, so that all employers across the UK can support any of their employees affected by domestic abuse. This session looks at what domestic abuse is, the role of the employer when taking action on domestic abuse and how EIDA can support employers. Fiona Bowman, an Ambassador for EIDA also shares her story.
Mindfulness leader and award-winning author Vidyamala Burch OBE introduces her Mindfulness-based Pain and Illness Management approach and her work to create a programme for long COVID. The Mindfulness for Managing Long COVID online course, available for free from The Charity for Civil Servants, forms part of the NHS 'Living With COVID Recovery Programme’.
This session provides an overview of what trauma is, the risk factors involved, how trauma presents, its complications and when and how to seek help. It is facilitated by Dr Andres Fonseca, a Consultant Psychiatrist with experience in managing individuals affected by trauma and can help understand trauma better and the way in which EMDR and other modes of therapy can be helpful.
Jodie discusses her personal experience with poor mental health and how a work life balance has assisted her in her recovery and the success of her law firm, Thrive Law. The session includes why its important to be aware of our own mental health, creating a work life balance and the role of communication in achieving a sustainable workplace balance. She also covers practical tools and tips that can help you create a better work life balance. Jodie is joined by James to discuss how Boundless can support a more effective work life balance.
