On 10 June, representatives from our Money Advice and Guidance Team attended the National Institute of Money Advisors’ (IMA) conference.
This year gave cause for celebration, as the team picked up the award for Best Financial Capability project for our work on ‘Making Money Matter’.
Led by our Head of Money Advice Service, Elaine Jefferys; the Making Money Matter project was set up at a time of increasing financial problems facing the Civil Service community, and sought to embed the principles of financial capability into our existing money advice and guidance service.
Formally launched as part of the nationwide #TalkMoney campaign last year, the work has resulted in a range of resources being made available on our website: including digital tools, downloads, a smartphone app, e-learning and a chatbot - as well as workplace events for our community.
By forming partnerships with the Money Advice Service, Law Express and National Debtline, the team have been able to support the Civil Service community to improve their financial capability and make the most of their money.
Both Elaine and Jane Goodwin, Area Services Manager (South East) were delighted to accept the award from the IMA, as well as a donation of £500 to the Charity.
The Charity’s CEO Graham Hooper said; "This is brilliant news and a massive endorsement of all the hard work and dedication of the team and everyone involved - continuing to enhance support and help which the Charity can offer people."
