We know that dealing with the death of a family member or loved one is one of the hardest things any of us will ever face. This is especially hard at this time due to the extra restrictions from Covid-19.
At The Charity for Civil Servants, we want to help relieve some of the anxiety and financial strain that comes with arranging a funeral. If you’re responsible for paying for a funeral in the UK and are struggling to afford this, we may be able to help (up to a maximum of £3,000).
When can we help?
You may be eligible for help through the Social Fund, but this funding is dependent on your income and other benefits. Before we can help, we need to know that you have explored this option first.
We would also need to know that the deceased or the person responsible for the funeral has a Civil Service connection. Equally, we are only able to help if there is no estate, insurance, savings or other family members to cover the costs of the funeral.
If you would like more information, please contact us on 0800 056 2424, speak to a member of the team or send us an email.
What you'll need to provide?
To apply for help, please complete the online application form and provide:
- Your financial details
- Copies of your bank statements
- A death certificate
- A copy of the funeral account.
If you need support to complete the form, please contact us on 0800 056 2424 and one of our advisors can help you.
Other ways we can help
If the loss of a loved one has had an impact on your day-to-day finances, or you have been left in debt as a result of your circumstances, you may be able to access additional financial assistance or services. If this is the case, please let us know when completing the form.
