They have “lifted the lid on the silence surrounding the menopause”. The objective has been to share good practice, support and facilitate difficult discussions on this “still very much taboo, stigma-ridden area”. They have implemented cross-government yammer groups, coffee mornings, speaker sessions, conferences and events encouraging colleagues to share their experiences. They have developed posters, information packs and blogs to raise awareness and understanding. Using their collective knowledge, they’re normalising this subject and growing people’s confidence to speak up about their own experiences. Achievements include consulting with CSEP to ensure the menopause was reflected in policy, supporting CIPD guidance on ‘managing the menopause at work’ and launching a menopause pack for employees and their managers in September.
