Bernadette has set herself the goal to help the Civil Service’s gender agenda become more inclusive across BAME employees, specifically women in the first instance. Over the last 22 months, she has increased the number of BAME women featured in the cross-government 100-women blog series and started a prominent ‘Women in Leadership’ series. There have been 15 of these events; bringing together women with Senior Civil Servants and inviting female permanent secretaries as speakers; reaching over 500 BAME employees so far. These are events are now well-established, so she is exploring to replicate their success for BAME men across the Civil Service.
