We know the pressures current circumstances can have on you and those closest to you, and relationship counselling can help to offer a fresh perspective. Through Relate we offer a counselling service with a qualified Relate counsellor. There are two ways you can access support:
- Completing the quick application where you can book up to four sessions.
- For more in-depth and broader support, complete our online application form.
Relate counselling continues to be available online and over the phone during the current restrictions.
How can counselling help?
Counselling helps people take time out from their situation and see it from a fresh perspective. Working with a counsellor gives a chance to think about what you can do to improve the situation and to explore complex or difficult issues in a safe and confidential environment.

Join colleagues from Relate to understand more about what relationship counselling is, how it can help you and what actually happens in the counselling room. Relate counselling is already available through The Charity for Civil Servants and can provide much needed, uninterrupted time and space for individuals, couples or families to come together, talk and listen to each other’s point of view.
How to access counselling
There are two ways:
PLEASE NOTE: For psychosexual therapy, please make a full application. This is because you are likely to require more intensive support than is covered by these options.
Face-to-face Relate counselling sessions:
This quick access option is best for less complex issues. Complete a quick application to book up to four face-to-face sessions. You will get a voucher code by email to give to Relate.
Vouchers expire after two months so please make use of it as soon as you are able. For further support your Relate counsellor will advise you to contact us again to discuss this with you. Use vouchers across the UK.
This option is best for longer or more complex support. Due to the cost of this service, we require income and expenditure details to help us establish your eligibility.
Complete our online application. If eligible for funding, our team makes a referral to Relate for you. Current waiting times will be advised by email once your application is submitted. For assistance with your application, contact us on 0800 056 2424 from 9am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
Unsure how much support you require? Complete the quick application for up to four face-to-face counselling sessions. If further counselling is then required our team can assist you.
