Relationship counselling can help to offer a fresh perspective when pressures of current circumstances get too much for you and those close to you. With this in mind, The Charity for Civil Servants work with Relate to provide a counselling service with their qualified counsellors.
Through Relate, we provide services including relationship counselling for individuals, couples, children and young people and families as well as mediation and sex therapy, and can help you even if you’re not in a relationship.
How to apply
There are two ways you can access support:
Face-to-face Relate counselling sessions:
Our quick access option is best for less complex issues. By completing a quick application you can book up to four face-to-face sessions.
Register / log in to our portal. Click on Apply for help and then Services. Select Relate and click Start application.
When you have submitted your application, check the My messages section (found by clicking the envelope in the top right of the portal). This will contain a voucher code entitling you to up to four sessions with a Relate counsellor.
Only one voucher will be provided to cover either individuals, couples or family counselling. Please note that vouchers expire after two months, so we advise that you make use of it as soon as you are able. Your Relate counsellor will advise you if you need further support and encourage you to contact us again. Use vouchers across the UK.
Full online application:
This option is best for longer or more complex support. Due to the costs involved in providing this support, we require income and expenditure details to help us establish your eligibility.
Complete our online application. Register or log in to our portal and then click on Apply for help.
If you are eligible for funding to receive this support, our team will make a referral to Relate on your behalf. Current waiting times will be advised by email once your application is submitted. For assistance with your application, contact us on 0800 056 2424 from 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday.
PLEASE NOTE: For psychosexual therapy, please make a full application. This is because you are likely to require more intensive support.
Unsure how much support you require? Complete the quick application for up to four face-to-face counselling sessions. If further counselling is required, your Relate counsellor will advise you to contact us so that our team can assist you.
How can counselling help?
Counselling helps people to take time out from their situation and see it from a fresh perspective. Working with a counsellor provides an opportunity to think about what you can do to improve a situation and explore complex or difficult issues in a safe and confidential environment.
